Terrain

Most people are obsessed with Terrain. I can't blame them. Its stunning atmosphere feels like you're in a secret garden. You can shop while you wait for a table. I prefer sitting outside on their patio — I find inside to be very noisy during prime-time weekend brunch hours.

What I don't understand is why people rave about Terrain as a whole. Let's be honest, the service is extremely slow. I do not recommend it for a quick lunch or brunch. This is where you go when you need to catch up with that friend you've been rescheduling because the kids' schedules never work out. Maybe you booked this one month out just to get one hour that works for you both.

The food isn't that great.

Sometimes I think places are doing too much. Most people want clean, simple, whole food.

What happened to a classic eggs Benedict? Why change something that works? And the cute flower pot bread they serve — the bread isn't good, and they give you enough butter for one bite. Anyone who actually thinks the flower pot bread is good doesn't know real bread. I can say that because I make my bread at home, as well as appreciate all my local bakeries with 'real' bread. Having anxiety over whether there will be enough butter is not it. Why do restaurants do this?

A beet and burrata salad does not need lettuce. It should be chunky beets with burrata dolloped over. Not lettuce and beets chopped up so tiny they seem to be from a can. Literally. I have tried most of the items because I keep going back. Why?

The drinks are amazing.

I will say the drinks are amazing. Latte, homemade iced teas, mocktails — worth the wait on that. Wellness and health is the hottest thing right now, and Terrain gets the beverage game right.

The atmosphere and store are the real stars.

The atmosphere is amazing, as is the actual store. Everything looks like a Pinterest board. It's the perfect place to grab a hostess gift for an upcoming party. Just maybe grab your actual meal somewhere else.
